I would definitely recommend this novel because it is really interesting and keeps you captivated the whole time. It has a lot of twists and turns along the way which always makes it exciting to read. It shows the dark side of life. When one bad thing happens, many other things pile on top. The book also shows the interesting side of parenting. Matt King really doesn't know what to do with his kids and, in all honesty, that is exactly what every new parent does and he basically is a new parent since he was never involved. There are some sexual references that are in the book that I would not suggest for anyone less than 13. Otherwise I would say this is a book for anyone because it is easy to follow and it is a very realistic description of life. I really enjoyed reading it and I think that most everyone would enjoy reading it too.

I would recommend this novel because it shows that not everything is perfect. Matt King's wife is in a coma; she was cheating on him with another man, Brian Speer; about to ask for a divorce, and the other man is working for Holitzzer who is about to buy 25,000 acres of land. This make the book and movie much more interesting to watch and read. Their are a lot of plot twist that keep the movie going. The only bad thing about it was they left out some scenes that would have been fun to watch.

I would recommend this book because it was a good read. I think the story line is very interesting, and I really like how they combine a main plot and sub plot together. This is a read for anyone of any age, and someone that has gone through a recent loss or family issues can relate, and really learn from the novel. The only part I didn't like about the book was that it wasn't specifically explained how exactly the trust for the land worked, and the issue that the trust was to dissolve in 7 years. Other than this, I really liked how the story went. It shows the discord of family, and the imperfection of life. Nothing really turns out the way we want, and sometimes we let go of our dreams in order to face reality. The Descendants should be read by anyone and everyone, but some sexual comments might be hard to deal with for children under 12 years old.

I would recommend this book to anyone; adults or kids. It is very insightful to struggles of a person going through a hard time. Also, throughout this book, each character grows wiser, and closer together and that is really interesting to read about. The relationships between each character in this book are very interesting too, because they're so not ordinary but it works out so well.
